I think we all know how important self-care is nowadays. Not just for our physical health, but also for our mental and emotional health. There is no denying that they all go hand in hand with each other. I know when I am taking better care of myself in one area, I feel it in all areas of my life.
Of course we can’t all check into a five star day spa and treat ourselves to all the bells and whistles of massages and facials. If I tried to do that, my bank account would literally be laughing at me! So I thought I would share some suggestions that on some small inexpensive ways you can give yourself some TLC without breaking the ban
At Home Mani-Pedi
I love having a fresh mani-pedi any day of the week, but I can’t always afford to go to the nail salon and have a pro take care of my cuticles. For times like this I love going to Marshall’s or TJ Maxx and hitting up their beauty section. I can always find great deals on foot scrubs, exfoliators for my hands and feet, and great choices for nail polish colors. If you don’t mind spending some time going through all of their options, you are sure to find some great deals that won’t break the bank and will last you for several mani-pedi sessions.
Soaking in a Hot Bath
I don’t do this one nearly as much as I should, but when I do it feels amazing! Grab some scented candles, maybe a glass of wine (if you are 21 or older), put on some relaxing music or a show you love, pour in some Epsom salts, and let all your cares just float away. If you aren’t a fan of soaking in a bath, a hot shower works wonders for the soul as well!
Go for a Walk
Living here in Florida I have endless places that are beautiful that I can go on a relaxing walk. Fortunately I live close to several beaches as well as some amazing parks. Walking is a great way to not only give your body some healthy self-care, but being in a beautiful environment is helpful to take down those stress levels.
At Home Facial
While you are at Marshall’s and TJ Maxx looking for your mani-pedi supplies, you can also check out all of their skincare options. I have seen many a facial mask for really affordable prices. Each person’s skin is different, so make sure to read the description to make sure that it is the right type for your skin.
Cook Yourself Your Favorite Meal
Odds are if you are cooking a meal at home, it is going to be way more cost effective than ordering take out or eating at a restaurant. Added bonuses to this are that you can make the meal with healthier options, have left overs, and you can stay in your comfy clothes and slippers with no judgement from others. You also have the feeling of self satisfaction that you kicked butt at making an amazing meal!
Drink a Hot Beverage
As Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory says, “You’re upset. The convention is to bring an upset person a hot beverage.” So, grab your favorite mug and steep a piping hot cup of tea, or brew some coffee, or settle in with a cup of hot coco and let the healing powers of a hot beverage wash over you.
These are just a few of the things that I have found helpful for some budget friendly self-care. If you have any suggestions or would like to share your favorite budget friendly self-care tips, leave a comment below.
