The Fear Holding Me Back

May 4, 2019 Comment : 1

I started reading 100 Days to Brave by Annie F. Downs a few days ago. And like every book I try and read, I am not 100% consistent in reading it every day. But today amidst my migraine, I heard it calling to me and I picked it up to read Day 5, “Just Start”.Read More

My church, @bldg_28_church, just started a series My church, @bldg_28_church, just started a series on Habakkuk last Sunday.

I had originally planned to do the Even If study of Habakkuk by @thedailygraceco a few months ago, when I was reading through Women of the Word by @jenwilkin.

After we were done with the book a handful of us gals from the book club decided to keep meeting and learn how to apply what we had read in Women of the Word and we ended up in the book of Haggai. And let me tell you, even though it was only two short chapters, there was so much good stuff to learn in Haggai.

And now I know why it wasn't the right time before to do the Even If study. Now quite a few ladies from BLDG28 are going through the study at the same time and even though all the women working through the study aren't meeting as a large group, it is so nice to know we are all doing this together.

And also thankful I have a couple of gals, @maggieseibertt and @inbloombakery_ to meet with to walk through this together in person. 💕

I got a very important package on Saturday! It was I got a very important package on Saturday! It was my coffee that I ordered from @ethosroasters! I legit love their coffee.

A very sweet lady from church brought me a bag of their Rio Coco blend, and I fell in love. She and I were chatting before service one day while greeting and got on the topic of coffee. Not hard for me to do seeing as I lived in the coffee capital, Seattle, for several years lol. She told me she would bring me some and brought me a whole bag of their coffee. I tried it a day or two later and was totally blown away.

She had mentioned that they were local here to Florida and were located in Lakeland. So, of course, me being me, I looked them up and loved what I saw.

"Our passion for coffee is only surpassed by our passion for making a difference in the lives of small coffee farmers, championing life-changing prices for their most exquisite coffees. No large ‘Estate’ coffees, no plantations, no 10-cent “Fair-Trade” premiums, no underpaid and child labor - Greatness for us is not just taste, it's impact!"

Seriously, go to their website and order some coffee, you will not be disappointed. Not only is it amazing coffee, but you are making an impact in the life of the coffee farmers that they source their beans from.

Gotta say, working from home has it's fair share o Gotta say, working from home has it's fair share of lunchtime advantages. Like making a simple yummy lunch or cooking a fresh meal. Today though, cheese, meat, and crackers.

I went to @aldiusa last night to get some meat and cheeses, because 1) they have a great selection and 2) they are super affordable!!! I spent less than $40 and came home with a bag full of yummy goodies. Some are on this plate, but there is still more yummy goodness not pictured in this plate.

I know I should probably have some fruit on the plate, but it is Friday and eh, who cares 😂.

Seriously though I love a good cheese plate or charcuterie board and while this is by no means styled as pretty as a charcuterie board, it is just as yummy.

Aldi yummies:
- Havarti Dill Cheese
- Spreadable garlic and herb cheese
- New York white cheddar cheese
- Salame Italiano
- Garlic and chive pita crackers

Trader Joe's:
- Honey pale ale mustard (cannot recommend enough!)

Publix:
- Cabaret crackers

2020 was definitely a weird one. Pandemic, conspir 2020 was definitely a weird one. Pandemic, conspiracy theories, toilet paper shortages, working from home, quarantine, shutdowns, elections, kitchen rebuild, new car, just to name a few.

While I am glad to see 2020 closing out, my hope isn't in a new year starting or a new president being sworn in, my hope is in Jesus and all he has done for me. My trust and faith in him is what has gotten me through this year and will get me through 2021.

Here it is y'all! I think we can say the kitchen i Here it is y'all! I think we can say the kitchen is finally done! There are a couple of paint touch ups that need to happen here and there, but that is pretty minor.

I am just so thankful to be able to have a functioning kitchen again. You have no idea! It has been over a year since we had a fully functioning kitchen. Between the pandemic and a mystery leak, everything took FOREVER!!!

I am so excited to start cooking and baking again! We have a lot of work to do because we have to put the house back together now and we are going to be painting and updating different things throughout the house. One day and one project at a time.

I legit love using my InstantPot! I have made some I legit love using my InstantPot! I have made some really yummy things in it, but honestly, just cooking meat to shred in it has been one of my favorite things to do.

Today I am making chicken salad. My Dad's recipe. I miss him so much and making the dishes he used to make is one way I can still keep him close. I am a little bummed because I can't find our Lawry's chicken seasoning that is the "secret" ingredient to making the chicken salad, but it is what it is.

With the kitchen rebuild, half of our kitchen stuff is put away and half if it is still in boxes or in storage. So pics of the finished kitchen will be coming soon hopefully, but despite what this pic looks like, the kitchen is very much a mess. Just some real life there for you 😂.

What are some of your favorite things you have made in your InstantPot? Let me know in the comments below!

We had to say goodbye to this sweet little guy on We had to say goodbye to this sweet little guy on Wednesday after 31 years together. You read that correctly. Lizzie was my 10th birthday present.

I was obsessed with the Sweet Valley Twin books and named him after my favorite twin, Elizabeth, because we thought he was a girl. Found out a few years later that Lizzie was actually a boy and not a girl 😂. Oh well, he already knew his name, so he we just went with it.

He was such a sweet little guy who loved to sing late at night, danced to music, and loved to whistle along with you.

Wednesday was a rough day, he had been falling off his perch repeatedly, so we knew he needed to go to the vet. We were told by his regular vet to go to @bluepearlvet here in Clearwater. The vet told us he had cataracts and could not see well, was underweight, and his whole left side was paralyzed. We knew the right thing for him was let him be at rest and not in pain.

They brought him out to the car so we could say goodbye. I was able to get a few good photos of him, this being one. He would perk up for a few seconds and then he would lay down and you could see how tired he was.

It is never an easy decision to make with a loved pet. But sometimes it is the right thing to do for them.

Blue Pearl was amazing to work with and everyone was so kind. I knew the name sounded familiar when our normal vet recommended them. It turned out they have a location in Seattle as well and I had taken Barnaby to see them when I lived there and he had a medical emergency. I can't recommend them enough.

I love you Lizzie bird and miss you tons! 💔
